With finals and end of the semester project deadlines quickly approaching, school (as well as all of my free time) is getting relatively hectic, but I know that the reward at the end of the semester (summer break!) is worth all of the hard work!
On top of finals and studying, I recently went from being a volunteer at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany to getting an actually job there as a Delivery Room Technician. As much as I love volunteering, when the employees in Labor and Delivery found out that I was a Physician Assistant student here at ACPHS they were extremely impressed and worked on getting me an actual paid position on their floor. I am currently working on my training on the weekends, learning all of the tools and all of the responsibilities of the position. As part of the position, I assist OB/Gyns during cesarean sections and hand them their tools. Seeing as blood doesn't bother me at all, and OB/Gyn is a field of medicine that I'm extremely interested in, this could not be a better summer job for me. I also feel extremely prepared for this position, due to the extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology I have acquired from my courses here at ACPHS. I can’t wait to dive right into the summer and work at St. Peter’s Hospital!
