Winter Fun during Spring Break

Spring break for the college was last week making it possible for me to escape the busyness of school and fit in some fun and relaxation. I started spring break off with a boom going on a two day snowboarding bonanza. The first Sunday of break I went to Whiteface Mountain (the 5th highest peak in the Adirondacks) in Lake Placid. The snowboarding was great and the lift ticket was only 35 dollars. It was really cool to think that I was snowboarding down the same terrain that Olympiads once snowboarded or skied on. After, a full day of snowboarding I went to downtown Lake Placid and got to see the Olympic ice rinks from both the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games. It was really cool to visit a place that is such a huge part of not only the Winter Olympic Games history, but also the United States history as this is where the famous “Miracle on Ice” occurred.

After a busy day in Lake Placid I went to Gore Mountain on Monday. Once again the snowboarding was great, and best of all, since it was on a Monday there were no wait lines for the gondola or any lifts on the mountain. I got a lot of runs in and was able to hit some of the terrain park as well. All in all, it was a good two days of snowboarding and a great way to blow off some steam and leave my schoolwork behind. To end this season I went to Mount Snow on Thursday for Saint Patrick’s Day, where the tickets were appropriately only 17 dollars. Although the terrain was a little rough and slushy it was a great way to end the 2010-2011 winter season.

Now I am back at school and studying once again, but after such an exciting Spring break I came back with no stress and feeling very relaxed.
