One week to the official start of summer!! For me I can't believe that we're already half way through June! I actually just got back from a week off in Lake Placid and it made me realize just how much I appreciate summertime, I can't imagine how we make it through all those long snowy months.
Campus is coming along. I actually haven't been over to see the library construction mainly for fear that I'll end up as part of demolition or something but I've been past the dining hall lots. They're keeping us in suspense though, all the windows are covered so you can't really see what's going on in there but my thinking is it's gotta be something really good that theywant to do the "grand reveal" of. They put some sketches out in the lobby and it does look like its going to be really nice, a total upgrade from what was there this year.
The city of Albany is pretty busy itself. I'm sure everyone at this point has heard at least some political jibberish on the news and trust me, it's alive here in the city. As the budget effects state workers it's hitting my family hard so I'm anxious to see how it all plays out- today's a big deadline so we'll see...
On a brighter note, I was in Washington Park a few weeks ago and it is absolutely beautiful!! Everyone is out with Frisbees and their dogs, walking around with iPods, eating Ben and Jerry's... I actually made it to Bombers (finally) which is like college legend here. They're a Mexican place, very low key, with THE BIGGEST burritos I've EVER seen! Seriously they have to be like over a pound each and they are so so so good! It's a great location too, they're on Lark St which has lots of little places like that for "unique" food like less food chainy. And you can walk right to the park from there which is super nice, definitely the right atmosphere for a picnic! I saw the outdoor theater while I was there too which apparently they do shows in the summer (I gotta see if I can find a schedule of events.)
Saratoga has been really buys too!! (that's about half hour from here) I'm sure everyone knows that Dave Matthews was there two weekends ago at SPAC. I was one of the 30,000 there both nights and they were beyond amazing shows. That Sunday Kings of Leon were here too so definitely big names in the area! Saratoga also had they're huge weekend long art show/festival this past weekend which had a great turnout... summer definitely brings out the best.
Ok I found this, here's the website for Bombers if you're interested: http://www.bombersburritobar.com/main.html
Talk to you soon!
