Yesterday was our 2nd fall open house for the college and we had an amazingly HUGE turnout of prospective students.
When students arrived they (as well as their families) were treated to an enormous breakfast layout, thanks to our dining service Chartwells. While they at their breakfasts, they had the chance to mingle with some of our current students and get some of their questions answered as well as get a feel for the type of students here at ACPHS.
After breakfast, a general information session was held to provide basic information to students about the school, student life, and the overall admissions process. In addition, a student speaker talked to the students about her experience at ACPHS and what she plans to do following graduation. And I’m sure I can give you a hint as to who the speaker was- hint*me*hint ; )
A breakout session was held for students interested in our Bachelor’s of Science programs where representatives from each program spoke to students and addressed questions. I attended this session in order to share my positive input and my great experience I’ve had in the Bachelor’s of Science in Biomedical Technology Program here at ACPHS. Then students were broken away from their parents and family to go meet with current students and have some questions answered (and get ACPHS sweatshirts!) while parents were able to ask questions to a panel of current students and faculty at the college.
Finally ( and my favorite part) tours were given to the students and their family to show many of the brand spanking new parts of the campus (including our new dining hall and amazing new library). Students and family members also had a chance to speak to their admissions counselors as well as financial aid.
Overall, the day was a huge success. I love being able to show the campus to prospective students interested in health care and tell them ALL about what a great foundation ACPHS has given me for my future. And make sure they know that students here do have fun here and there : )
