Experienced: The Life and Times of a PharmD Student

Hello Everyone!

My name is Courtney and I am currently a 3rd year PharmD student at ACPHS. This is my first foray into the world of blogging so you will have to bear with me as I get into the hang of things. I thought I would start this out with a little introduction as to what classes I am taking this year and what I am involved in both on and off campus.
Most of the classes in the 3rd year of the PharmD program are lectures. The main lectures that I am taking this semester are Immunology, Pathophysiology, Biochemistry, and Pharmaceutics. What I really like about all of these classes is that there is material that overlaps. I can learn one thing in Pathophysiology and it will later relate to something I will learn in biochemistry. I am also taking a Pharmacy Skills Lecture and lab in which I am learning the skills that a pharmacist needs to know. I really like this class because I feel like everything I am learning now I can use in the future.
Outside of classes I am involved in several programs and activities on campus. I am a resident assistant in South Hall, the first year dorm, and absolutely love it! I am also a student ambassador, a member of the honor code committee, and a member of Colleges Against Cancer (an amazing organization on campus!). Off campus, I work as a pharmacy technician at a local hospital. I love working there and I feel like the things I have learned at the hospital have helped me in some of my classes and vice versa.
I think you have probably heard enough about me and I have a little more studying to get in tonight. Until next week…hopefully I have some interesting stuff to tell you about :)

-Courtney
