Hi Everyone!
Hope everything is going well! Midterms just recently passed us by, making it a good time to reflect on the progress of the semester. Midterm exams allowed me to look at what I’ve learned, what I still need to learn, and chapters that need to be reread. Tests are a vital part of our education here, from written factual exams to practicals that involve the demonstration of actual skills such as compounding and preparing ointments (very cool, might I note). So how do you study for midterms, or any test, here at ACPHS? Here are some tips that I’ve learned in my three years here, that I wish someone had told me my first year.
1. Begin studying a week prior to the test, even if those first few days are spent just skimming through your notes and presentations in order to get a feel for what need attention.
2. Organization is key. If all of the information that is covered on a test is organized in front of you, it is much easier to study and memorize facts.
3. Color coding helps big time! I love to highlight and color my notes all different colors. I find that when I’m taking an exam, I can recall facts based on the color I had the information highlighted in my notes.
4. Utilize study objectives and practice test questions that many teachers here give to students. They give insight into what information the teacher is focused on (and sometimes that important when they give you 10 chapters to cover on one exam) as well as how questions may be formatted on the actual exam.
5. Take breaks and go to Coldstone (which is conveniently located on campus, in our Student Center)
6. Repetition is key!
Hope this helps! Good luck on your exams!
-Emily
