So there is something that I have learned about myself over the course of my 3 years here at ACPHS…I am a nerd. Ok, so I probably knew that about myself before but I really notice it now. The thing is it is ok to be a nerd at ACPHS because being a nerd means that you actually like what you are learning. This is so important when we are going into such a specific field. I will give you an example from this past week as to how I am a nerd.

For one of my classes called Foundations of Pharmacy, I have to look up the indications, common dosage forms, and side effects of certain drugs each week. The list of drugs from this past week are commonly used in hospitals. When I was looking up the information of each drug, I came across indications and side effects that I had learned about in another class, Pathophysiology. I was so excited that I was coming across something in one class that I had learned and understood in another class. I was later watching Grey’s Anatomy when I heard some of those same terms again. The doctors were shouting out “torsades” and “V fib” and I knew exactly what they were talking about!

I guess what my whole point of telling you all this is that it is good to be a nerd! So I hope you all go out and embrace you inner nerd, maybe release it and be proud to be a nerd! While you are doing that, I am going to watch this week’s Grey’s Anatomy. Hopefully I will recognize something else that I have learned! Until next week!
